Atherton Collieries are delighted to announce the signing of former Northern Ireland international Johnny Gorman.

The 23 year old winger arrives on a dual registration deal from National League North side Curzon Ashton until the end of the season.

Speaking about the latest signing, manager Michael Clegg said, ‘Obviously I would like to thank John Flanagan at Curzon for allowing such a talent to join us.’

‘Johnny needs some games and will obviously leave us at the end of the season but to get a player like him in is just ridiculous at our level.’

‘I really want to let him express himself and have a big impact on the final run in.’

‘We are delighted to have him.’

Clegg went on to explain the motives behind bringing in the former Football League player, who has previously had spells with Wolverhampton Wanderers, Plymouth Argyle and Leyton Orient, stating ‘Last season as we drew 0-0 with Abbey Hey, we drafted in three 17 year olds from the local league.’

‘At the same time, Colne signed three massive players. That was the difference.’

‘This year we believe we have a good chance of winning this league whereas last season we were always outsiders.’

‘The club and the supporters have backed us immensely in recent months and we hope that by bringing in somebody like Johnny we can repay all that support.’

It is expected that Gorman will be included in the Colls team to face Congleton Town this Saturday.
