Announcement: Bolton Wanderers

Atherton Collieries are excited to confirm that we will again be welcoming Bolton Wanderers to the Skuna Stadium this pre-season, on July 13th 2022. The fixture has become a proud tradition at the Skuna Stadium over recent years. The record currently stands at four draws between the two sides, and two wins for the Wanderers. Last season's outing saw a hard-fought victory for an almost full strength Wanderers side, with second-half goals from George Thomason, Ronan Darcy and a Nathan Delfouneso brace after an evenly-matched opening stanza. Young 'stopper Luke Hutchinson played 45 minutes in goal for the Whites that day, before a highly successful five month loan stint at the Skuna Stadium. Our behind closed doors fixture in 2020 saw the Colls host Ian Evatt's first fixture as Whites gaffer, with goals from Eoin Doyle, Dennis Politic and trialist Bright Amoateng. The fixture has also seen some memorable moments for the Collieries, including then-captain, now-manager Brad Cooke scoring a 30+ yard "howitzer" in our 2016 encounter! Ticket details will be announced in due course.
