Atherton Collieries can confirm that we have added a home fixture against Salford City to our pre-season schedule, to be played on Saturday 10th July.
Salford City currently compete in the EFL League Two under the stewardship of Gary Bowyer, and most recently achieved an 8th place finish in the 2020-21 season, as well as winning the delayed 2019-20 EFL Trophy final against Kenny Jackett's Portsmouth.
The Ammies are traditionally no strangers to the Skuna Stadium, having competed in the same division as the Colls on fifteen occasions, though it is fair to say a lot of progress has been made by both clubs since our final North West Counties clash in February 2008. Since their rise through the football pyramid, we have continued a positive relationship, and this will be our third pre-season friendly in recent years following encounters in 2015 and 2019.
Ticket details will be confirmed over the current weeks, and we encourage supporters to keep an eye on our social media (@ACFC1916) for further updates and details.
