Ben Conway Signs On

In what has been a solid pre-season so far for the Colls, those who have caught any of the action cannot have failed to have been impressed by Ben Conway in midfield. We are delighted to introduce Ben, who has now completed his move to Colls for the forthcoming season. The 23 year old Wiganer played a handful of games for Colls as a teenager in the pre-season of 2013, including a goal away to Norcross & Warbreck (credit: Emil) and the Jolly Boys outing to Glantraeth, before heading to the US. In the States, Ben represented University of the Incarnate Word (UIW) in Texas, alongside our vice-captain Vinny Bailey. He then progressed on to Oklahoma City Energy FC U23, adding to the exotic list of Colls players' former teams. Ben has now returned to link back up with Vinny and the Colls, we are delighted to have him onboard. Manager Micheal Clegg gave us the background on Ben's move: “We were made aware Ben was coming back from America by Vinny Bailey, as they played together out there. He actually played for Colls a few years back. He has come in and done so well... We are delighted to get him signed up, he has fitted in straight away and just excites everyone everytime he gets on the ball...". Highlighing Ben's potential, Cleggy added: "No-one really knows much about Ben as he has been in the states for so long. But come next May, I'm sure everyone will know who he is”.
