‘Breast Cancer Now’ Charity Drive

On Friday 25th June, two local gentlemen are beginning a 2,200 mile journey to raise funds and awareness for charity 'Breast Cancer Now'. Martin Yates and Luke Fearnley, a Colls u7s coach, will set off from the Skuna Stadium with an aim to visit all 20 Premier League football grounds, before finishing the tour at Wembley Stadium. 'Breast Cancer Now' were chosen for this fundraiser after Martin's younger sister Charlene was diagnosed in 2020. Charlene has since entered remission and reached her '1 Year Cancer Free' milestone in February, amongst the challenging circumstances of the Pandemic, and Martin and Luke wish to thank the amazing staff at the Christie NHS Foundation Trust (Salford) Thomas Linacre Center (Wigan) and the Wrightington, Wigan and Leigh NHS Foundation Trust for their help and support. We will be sharing updates from Martin and Luke's journey on our Atherton Collieries social media platforms, and we hope to see their fundraising appeal backed by our local community as well as our friends throughout the footballing world.
