Tomorrow the Collieries make the rather short journey to neighbours Ashton Athletic in what will be the First Qualifying Round of the FA Vase. The 42nd edition of the FA Vase sees us travel to fellow NWCFL Premier Division side Ashton Athletic, and Brocstedes Park is no unknown area for Colls’ fans having travelled their three times last season, once in the FA Cup against St Helens and twice against Athletic in both the Lancashire and Men United Cup, this came despite not being in the same division as either Ashton or tenants St Helens Town. All three games resulted in wins for Atherton and progression to the next round of the respective cup competitions. Having played eight games so far this season in both league and cup Athletic have won two, drawn three and lost three. Most recently Athletic faced Silsden in the Premier Division on Tuesday 1st September and the game resulted in a 2-2 draw, Adam Gilchrist and Ryan Small with the goals for the Yellows. As one road to Wembley ends, another one begins – as always, your support on Saturday will be appreciated by everyone at the Football Club. Date: Saturday 5th September Time: 15:00 Address: Brocstedes Park Downall Green Ashton in Makerfield WN4 0NR
