Glossop North End Preview

Tomorrow we welcome Glossop North End to the Skuna Stadium for our final home game of 2018. Our league campaign started at Surrey Street and a Ben Hardcastle brace ensured it was a happy trip back down the M67. Last season Glossop visited us as they were chasing a promotion play-off spot, with 5 wins on the bounce. Having taken the lead in front of a bumper crowd, including a giant inflatable crocodile, Glossop were pegged back as Iain Howard equalised then Colls in the hunt for a winner came very close through Jordan Cover before the final whistle blew for a 1-1 draw. This season we find the Hillmen towards the wrong end of the table, although recent results suggest that they have turned the corner under the new management duo of Peter Band and Lloyd Morrison. In their last outing, they visited league leaders Runcorn Linnets, taking a two goal lead in the first half. Linnets rescuing a point with a very late equaliser. Last weekend's home game to Prescot Cables fell victim to the weather. The new management duo have been busy in the transfer market, recent incomings include Moussa Samassa who we last saw representing Droylsden, Cody Ruberto who has experience at Macclesfield and various Italian clubs, Keenan Quansah from Mossley, Paul Marshall on dual-registration from Curzon Ashton and Montserrat international Dajour Buffonge. This week has seen Darren Thornton depart for Colwyn Bay whilst striker James Handley has arrived from Buxton and defender Zach Cooper has signed on dual-registration from West Didsbury and Chorlton. Danger man for Glossop is front man Dominic Marie, winning promotion with Hyde United last season following spells at Halifax and Marine. The big man is no stranger to the league having started the season at Ramsbottom. Colls are buoyed further following that victory at Colwyn Bay by the arrival of midfielder Oliver Roberts from Buxton, however Jame Kirby and Josh Messer are expected to miss the game through injury.
