The eagle-eyed amongst you may have spotted a familiar figure at the Skuna on Saturday, after a spell as Oldham Athletic first-team goalkeeping coach, the legendary keeper Greg Hartley is back!
Greg appeared for Colls in pre-season but took his new role in early August with all our best wishes, manager Micheal Clegg predicting that may not be the last we'd seen of the Failsworth stopper.
His last competitive appearance for Colls was in the final game of last season away to Newcastle Town when he had a cameo appearance in the centre-forward position; a role he'd actually represented Manchester City reserve team in, away to Newcastle United at St James' Park!
Making his debut over the festive period of 2017 in a 3-1 loss away to Ossett Albion, Greg played a massive part in the club climbing up the table during the second half of the season, culminating in the Integro Cup win over Coalville Town. His importance to the team illustrated last season when out through injury, the team conceding goals that simply wouldn't have occurred with Hartley between the sticks.
Everyone at the club is delighted to have Greg back around the place.
