Ground Update

Following a busy few months off the pitch, we would like to take some time to provide an update for our fans & volunteers on the ground work and improvements we have made during this break from sporting action. With thanks to over 100 donors to our successful crowdfunding campaign, the club have been able to go above and beyond with completing the necessary improvements to our ground, with plenty of credit and praise due to the hardworking volunteers who have dedicated their time in doing so. The main and most exciting announcement on this front is the installation of a new terraced stand at the far end of the pitch, which allows us to finally offer covered standing for supporters behind the goal, alongside an covered extension to the “Dave Norris Stand” with the intention of providing cover for disabled spectators. We have also installed a new turnstile entrance to the ground next to the changing rooms, to help improve the matchday experience for matches where higher crowds are expected. Alongside these improvements, we’ve also spent some time making other improvements to the ground, including small refurbishments to our bar and hospitality facilities. Another big improvement over the recent months has been the opportunity to dedicate some time towards improving our playing surface. The pitch has been due a much needed period of recuperation, and we have made sure to make the most of this opportunity to make sure our playing surface is as good as ever when playing action resumes. Again, we would like to take some time to thank both our crowdfunding donors, who have made these developments possible, as well as our fantastic and hardworking volunteers, who have worked within the current restrictions to make the improvements a reality. Clubhouse and Bar Update: We are also happy to confirm that the Atherton Collieries clubhouse will reopen, in accordance with the national guidelines, this coming Saturday (4th of July) from 3pm until 9pm. In order to aid with the national “track and trace” effort, we will be operating a membership scheme, at the cost of £5 for a 12-month period. One-day passes will be available for the cost of £2, and only 3 one-day passes will be allowed per person within a 12-month period. A variety of measures will be in place to help minimise the risk within our clubhouse, including offering hand sanitiser on every table and requiring our tables to be cleaned after every occupancy. The bar will be clearly marked in accordance with social distancing guidelines, with a one-way system in place, and our staff will wear masks & gloves and supply plastic glasses only. Membership payment can be made in the clubhouse, or via a donation to our GoFundMe campaign, which is available here: uk.gofundme.com/f/atherton-collieries-fc-needs-your-support
