New Signing: Connor Phelan

Atherton Collieries are pleased to announce the signing of free agent Connor Phelan. The 23-year old full-back has previously represented Newton Aycliffe and Team Northumbria at senior level, though he has taken the last season out of the game to focus on his University studies & injury rehabilitation. As a youngster Connor represented Otago (New Zealand) and Lancashire at county level. Connor is a versatile and technical full-back, who also offers an offensive threat, having previously celebrated goal-scoring streaks with Newton Aycliffe. Speaking on the signing, Brad Cooke adds: "Connor has come in this summer on the recommendation of our Sports Therapist Matt. He is in great physical condition and can play on the right or left, which gives us options." "He is a very good defender and someone who has a point to prove, with his age and qualities he will do well for us!" Connor Phelan has been kindly sponsored by Paul Gregory. Photo: Rob Clarke
