We are excited to confirm the signing of Jay Fitzmartin from Bolton Wanderers. A local lad hailing from Leigh, Jay played as a junior for Atherton Town before spending 8 years within the Bolton academy set-up, making one senior appearance for the Whites in 2019 and signing professional terms in 2021.
The 19-year old winger enjoyed a loan spell with Stalybridge Celtic last season, making 12 appearances with 1 goal and multiple assists, before departing Bolton Wanderers this summer.
Speaking on the signing, manager Brad Cooke said:
"Jay is a very good footballer, and I am absolutely delighted that he has agreed to sign for us. He is someone I have admired for a while, and I tried to sign him a couple of times on loan from Bolton."
"Fitz has huge potential and I have no doubt he will do very well in the game. He suits our style of play, he is technical and has lighting pace. After dropping out of professional football for the first time, I know he is determined to have a really positive season!"
"I can't wait to see what Jay can do, it is an exciting time for the Collieries to sign a player of his calibre."
