Atherton Collieries are excited to announce the signing of highly rated young defender Joel Amado.
An imperious left sided defender, 22 year old Amado has already amassed an increasing level of experience throughout his career, rising up through the leagues having played for Irlam prior to becoming a favourite amongst the Trafford faithful, before most recently making a pre-season switch to Warrington Town.
Discussing recent transfer movements, manager Brad Cooke said:
“At Colls we work with a “one-in, one-out” style policy, everyone is aware of that, we've not got the financial clout to have a massive squad. Often when you lose players, you will often bring somebody in who's like for like, but Jack Banister has departed and we've changed it around a little bit, we've brought Joel Amado in.
“He's coming in off the back of a great year at Trafford, and as a left sided center-back or full-back we've brought him in with the mindset that it gives us that opportunity to push Gaz Peet up the pitch.
“We're really happy with the signing, he's a young lad, he's quick, he's strong, and most importantly he's a really nice kid as well. We've been against a little bit of competition from teams in our league for him, which makes it even better. We can't wait to see him in a Colls shirt!”
