The foundations for David Chadwick's Atherton Collieries have been strengthened once more with the addition of Josh Askew, a defender who joins from Ramsbottom United. Josh is no stranger to the Northern Premier League, first playing in the division as a teenager on loan at Warrington Town from Blackburn Rovers, before enjoying a prosperous & key role at Salford City as they won the National League North, also demonstrating his goalscoring credentials with two Divisional Goal of the Month awards.
Josh has amassed further National League experience with Alfreton, Chester, Boston United, Curzon Ashton & Stockport County, before returning to the NPL to represent FC United of Manchester, Hyde & Stalybridge.
On signing for the Colls, Josh says: "I'm absolutely buzzing to be signing for Atherton Colls, and excited to be working under Chaddy again as I know how good of a manager he is. "I’m excited to to be playing in front of the fans as I know it’s a real good relationship between the players and fans, hopefully I can excite them when I play. "I’m bringing a lot of experience and leadership for a 25 year old who’s won promotions in the leagues above and I’m hoping we bring the same success here at Atherton!" Manager David Chadwick adds: "It's crazy to think that with all Josh's experience and length of time playing at high levels, he is still only 25. He has so much to give and if we get the best Josh Askew we're getting a great player!"
