New Signing: Lewis Doyle

Atherton Collieries are excited to confirm the signing of Lewis Doyle from Accrington Stanley. The 19 year old has previously played for the Black and Whites on loan from Southport in early 2018, and eventually earned a move to Accrington Stanley following his performances at Haig Avenue. Lewis began his career with a seven year stint in Preston North End’s academy, and can also name Curzon Ashton as a former club following a loan stint at the end of 2019. Speaking on the signing, Colls manager Brad Cooke said “I played alongside Lewis when he was just 17, and you could see then that he was going to be special. He is only 19 now, but he already has a lot of experience in and around this level prior to being picked up by Accrington.” “Lewis fits the bill for us. He’s a young, hungry and very talented lad. He had offers from our league and the league above, but after speaking to him and his family I am delighted that he chose to sign for us, and we are all excited to see how he develops over the next year!”
