New Signing: Luke Nicholls

Atherton Collieries can today confirm the signing of forward Luke Nicholls, who makes the cross-town switch from Laburnum Rovers. The forward has made a quick impression amongst the Skuna Stadium faithful, playing throughout pre-season including scoring the stunning late winner against Bolton Wanderers B. Luke steps up three divisions to join the Black & Whites from Crilly Park, where he was a star player in the North West Counties First Division with 15 goals over 27 appearances over the 2021/22 campaign. Speaking on the signing, manager Brad Cooke said: "Luke is someone that we have monitored for the last year. I watched LR against AFC Bury last season and he really stood out, and we kept tabs on him through the then-manager Warren Jones, but unfortunately he had a bad injury in January. "He came in on trial this pre-season and he has been brilliant! He knows he has a way to go, but if his start is anything to go by he will be an asset for us. "He can play out wide or through the middle, and adds to an already talented front line. His goal against Bolton shows those qualities that he has!" Photo: Ben Roberts (@BR_Photographs)
Luke Nicholls is now available to sponsor for £100. Please contact RobCollsMedia@outlook.com with any enquiries. Read more about player sponsorship here: AthertonCollieries.co.uk/player-social-media-sponsorships
