Atherton Collieries can confirm the return of midfielder Oli Roberts to the Skuna Stadium, who joins following a successful campaign for Colne. Oli is a player who likely needs little introduction to the Colls faithful, becoming a popular member of the club during his first stint between December 2018 and October 2019. Oli reached 26 appearances for the Colls during this time, scoring twice, including a memorable opening day winner against Ashton United.
After initially departing the Skuna Stadium, Oli went on to make 27 appearances for Trafford between 2019 and 2021, scoring once, before spending last season with Colne, leading their appearances charts for the season with 44 outings over 47 games, notching three goals.
The 26-year-old midfielder has also represented Stalybridge Celtic, Chorley, Mickleover and Buxton, as well as New Orleans Jesters in the United States.
Speaking on the signing, manager Brad Cooke said:
"Oli is someone I have admired for a while. I kept track of him after he left Colls originally to join Trafford and Colne, and he has excelled. Oli has really matured as a player, and is a fantastic footballer too."
"We spoke a while ago, and it was a pretty easy conversation for both of us with regards to him signing. He adds loads of quality in the middle of the park, it's a very good signing for the football club!"
