New Signing: Rowan Roache

Atherton Collieries can today confirm the signing of Rowan Roache from Workington AFC. The 21-year-old forward has already made a name for himself within football circles following his impressive record for Blackpool FC's youth teams. Rowan amassed 30 goals from 31 u18s appearances over the course of the 2016/17 season, lifting the North West Youth Alliance and Lancashire FA Youth Cup. Further success followed in 2017/18, where he was described as the star-man for a Blackpool u18s side that enjoyed a fairy-tale run to the FA Youth Cup semi-final, ultimately bowing out to an Arsenal team containing future stars such as Emile Smith Rowe and England icon Bukayo Saka. Rowan has also amassed 18 youth caps for the Republic of Ireland. This season, Rowan has contributed three goals and two assists in eight appearances for Workington, who sit firmly in a title challenge at the top of the NPL First Divsion West, having previously represented Bamber Bridge in the annulled 2019/20 campaign. Rowan will enter the Colls squad for tomorrow night's clash at Buxton, and we are delighted to welcome Rowan to the club.
