The Colls are excited to confirm the signing of winger Sam Peplow, a young winger who is a product of the Huddersfield Town academy.
The Leigh-based youngster made his breakthrough into senior football through a loan spell from the Terriers to Hyde United, going on to make further appearances at FC United of Manchester during the following campaign.
Despite starting his career as a defender for the Manchester United academy, the left-footer made the transition to the wings as he broke through into senior football, and has since been noted for his ability to create dangerous opportunities when cutting inside into the box as well as his set-piece delivery.
Sam has so far represented the Colls as a trialist against Prestwich Heys and Daisy Hill.
Speaking to the club, Sam said: “It’s a great feeling to be in and around football again as I’ve had a very difficult time with injuries, and to be with my local club also makes it a bit more special.”
“Everybody has been very welcoming, I already know a few lads from my time with Manchester United when we were younger and it always helps to have those faces you already know. I’ve spoken with Chaddy a bit too, he’s always positive and direct with what he says.”
“I can’t wait to find my feet again, I hope to give the fans some exciting and direct football, and hopefully goals and assists too which are always my aim for every season!”
Manager David Chadwick adds: “Sam is a local boy to Atherton, and comes with a great pedigree. He has had an up-and-down year or so with football and fell out with it, if we can help him get back to his best we will have some player on our hands!”
