Prestwich Heys Preview

This Saturday (21st July, 3pm) we welcome our friends from Prestwich Heys to Alder Street, as Micheal Clegg’s squad gear up for their Evo-Stik League Division One West opener away to Glossop North End on Saturday 18th August. Heys themselves will be competing in the inaugural North West Counties Division One North, this despite finishing third in Division One last season and being the top scorers in the division. They were resoundingly beaten 4-1 in the play-offs at home to Cammel Laird, despite finishing 19 points clear of them in the league, this coming only days after a victory over Lairds to win the LCW Drinks Division One Cup. A number of Colls fans made the trip to Adie Moran Park for the play-off game but had no part to play whatsoever in them running out of lager. Colls fans will recall the 2016 Hospital Cup final at the Macron Stadium where a strong Colls side was downed 1-0 by a Paul Tierney first half goal for Heys. Despite throwing everything at Robert Sadler in the Heys net, the breakthrough just wouldn’t happen and Heys lifted the trophy. Heys have started pre-season in handsome form, beating both Denton Town and Tempest United by 4 goals apiece. A couple of familiar faces may also be in the Heys squad, for starters who can forget THAT Justin Pickering goal? The stattos may also recognise Mike Itela who has also appeared in a handful of Colls pre-season games. Admission is £4 for adults and £2 concessions.
