Preview: Colls v City of Liverpool

The Collieries welcome City of Liverpool to the Kensite Stadium on Saturday, as both Lancashire and Merseyside come head-to-head in attempt to claim the first trophy of the season. A recently revitalised concept, the Reusch Champions Cup sees the Champions of the Premier Division pit themselves against the Champions of the NWCFL Trophy in a Charity Shield like game. City of Liverpool, commonly known as ‘the Purps’, won the NWCFL Trophy last season, beating Barnoldswick Town in an entertaining final down at the Highbury Stadium. Combine this with promotion out of the First Division via the play-offs and you can certainly say it was a fantastic debut season for the Merseyside outfit. The Colls, of course, come into this game having famously won the Premier Division and promotion to the Evo-Stik leagues, finishing the season with a total of 100 points, winning 32 of 42 games in the process. So, get down to the Kensite and watch the Champions take on the Champions in what is the first meeting between the two sides. All are welcome, we’ll see you there! Date – 29/07/17 Kick off – 15:00 Address – The Kensite Stadium, Alder Street, Atherton, M46 9EY Admittance – Adults £5, Concessions (inc. Students) £3 and U12s FREE
