Football returns to Alder House this evening as Welsh outfit Colwyn Bay make the journey across to M46. Collieries will be looking to build upon their solid display on the opening day of the season when they dispatched Glossop North End 2-0 thanks to goals from Ben Hardcastle. Bay will also be looking to make it two wins out of two following their 1-0 home victory over Kendal Town. The two sides have a limited head to head record having rarely found themselves in the same division. With this in mind, Colwyn Bay have made only two previous visits to Colls, with the latest being last September when the black and white stripes came out on top in a well battled 3-1 victory with Ash Woods and Jordan Cover getting on the scoresheet. Prior to that you have to go all the way back to March 1985 when Philip Bailey and Phil Collins were top of the charts with Easy Lover. That match ended in a goalless draw. Colwyn Bay come into the match with a few new additions to their squad, including young goalkeeper Paddy Wharton who landed at Llanelian Road last week on loan from Tranmere Rovers. They are expected to bring a full squad with them to Atherton this evening but are still waiting for international clearance to be granted to Lewis Moynes and left back James Ellison. During tonight's match there will be a bucket collection for Prescot Cables reserve player Jack Riding who sadly passed away last week. He was playing five a side football with his friends when he was taken ill and tragically died in hospital. The money raised will be handed over to Jack's family.
