The Collieries kick-off their 18/19 Evo-Stik campaign with a trip to old friends Glossop North End tomorrow afternoon.
Both the former North West Counties outfits meet after strengthening over the summer break. North End have signed numerous players, with every area of the field accounted for. Will Knight will be the man in-between the sticks having signed from Macclesfield Town, infront an improved sturdy back four now featuring former Wrexham defender James Etherington. Plenty of new faces sporting blue and white down at Surrey Street tomorrow afternoon.
The hosts have had an encouraging pre-season campaign with wins against CMB, New Mills and Barnoldswick coming before two consecutive defeats against respectable opposition, Sheffield and Buxton.
From Men United Cup Finals to numerous league encounters, the Colls and North End have a long-standing relationship. Their most recent encounter came last season, a 2-1 victory for Michael Clegg’s men on a fresh February afternoon, Vinny Bailey’s quite unbelievable strike making the difference.
With both outfits having a busy summer this game is sure to be a cracker, Clegg’s men ready as they will ever be.
