Preview: Ilkeston (A)

Atherton Collieries travel to Ilkeston Town this weekend in search of a second successive victory, aiming to build on an entertaining 3-2 win at Workington on Easter Monday.

Goals from Dylan Thompson, Ethan Beckford and Oli Putnam sealed all three points away at Borough Park, and David Chadwick’s men are on the road again as they head down to Derbyshire.
Saturday’s hosts, meanwhile, also picked up a win last time out, with late strikes from Jaiden White and Callum Minkley securing a 2-1 comeback victory in a local derby against Matlock Town.

That extended Ilkeston’s current unbeaten run to four matches (two wins, two draws), a run which extends back to their most recent defeat against champions-elect Radcliffe in February.
Following those results, the Robins find themselves comfortably mid-table, sitting in 12th with 48 points from 35 games.

A significant part of that upturn in form has been Thomas Cursons, with the striker having netted three goals across those four games, including both in a 2-1 win away at play-off chasing Guiseley.

Cursons is also a student at Nottingham Trent University, and was recognised with a call-up to the English Universities side earlier this week.
It was another player of international acclaim, namely fellow forward Ben Starkie (capped three times by the Tanzania senior side) who proved the difference in the reverse fixture at Skuna Stadium, netting a stunning stoppage-time winner in a 3-2 thriller back in November.
The Colls will be keen to avenge that agonising defeat this time around, and your support could prove crucial as the lads look to put together a strong end to the season.

Those looking to make the trip down to the New Manor Ground can find ticket prices down below, and can secure coach travel (departing the Skuna Stadium at 10:15am and priced at £15 per seat) by contacting the club or supporters club through social media, or emailing robcollsmedia@outlook.com to join our club travel communications list.
