On Saturday the Collieries make the journey East to take on fellow Evo-Stik First Division North side Ossett Town in the Second Preliminary Round of the FA Cup. In what is only the second meeting between the two sides, the Colls will be looking for revenge, with Town beating Clegg's men on their own turf just seven days previous. In the previous round, Ossett avoided an upset as they saw off Northern League outfit Consett AFC, Alex Peterson and Kai Hancock grabbed the goals as the Reds came from behind. Arguably, Atherton faced tougher opposition in the form of old foes Cleethorpes Town. Looking for revenge, the Collieries threw everything they had at the Owls and were rewarded for their efforts, leaving Grimsby with a 2-1 win under their belts. Jordan Cover and Iain Howard the goal scorers in that game. Away games like this are never easy, however, with this being the Colls tenth consecutive away draw, it is something the black and whites have grown accustomed to, only thanks to YOUR support though. Clegg’s men need you, the people of Atherton, to get out, get down to Ossett, and get behind the Collieries as they look to progress in England’s favoured cup competition.
