Liam Sheppard and Sam Robinson both recorded landmark goals as the Collieries Under 18s maintained their pressure at the top of the table with a routine victory at Nantwich Town.

After scoring the squad’s 100th competitive goal of the season last weekend, Harry Brown turned provider as Sam Robinson scored his own deserved but overdue first, cutting back from the right for the defender to power home.

The next milestone to be hit came through Liam Sheppard, who smashed home his own 50th competitive youth goal of a respectable campaign in his 25th appearance, converting when 1-versus-1 after a great ball from Remi Yusuf.

The young talisman turned provider for the next goal, flying down the right wing before playing a perfect pass across for Maniu Mohammed to convert for the second consecutive appearance.

New signing Isaac Jackson-Peat, who returns to the Collieries from Salford City, marked his second-debut with a fantastic assist for Sheppard’s second, providing a wicked delivery from the right flank for the striker to produce a powerful header. The striker marked his hattrick, and his 63rd goal so far this campaign including senior appearances, after slotting home from a Harry Brown through ball.

The Young Stripes remain eight points behind league leaders Aintree with two games in hand as seven games remain of the league campaign, and host bottom club Stalybridge at Kearsley Academy next Sunday at 2pm.
