Colls made their first visit to near neighbours Hindsford for a few years in a Bolton Hospital Cup Semi Final tie. The prize for the victors was a trip to the Macron Stadium on Tuesday 5 May. The game exploded into life in the 3rd minute when Colls no 4 Josh Messer was sent off for a mistimed challenge in the middle of the park. There was little complaint about the decision from the visitors and within seconds of the game restarting they took the lead. Jordan Cover ran at the Hindsford defence before getting his shot away. Matt Ince saved well but Ben Hardcastle was on hand to tap in. The lead was doubled on 17 minutes. Tom Shaw playing with panache in a new role of left back floated a fine free kick into the box and Brad Cooke headed home a beauty. with 37 minutes on the clock Cover used his pace again to race clear but Ince did well to turn powerful effort round the post. Hindsford best chance of the half was from a free kick just outside the box after Andy Heald had been penalised for a robust challenge. The kick came to nothing The weather got worse in the second half with Hindsford playing against a swirling wind. Just before the hour mark there was a little melee on the hosts goal line which resulted in a player from each team going into the book. The 10 men naturally ceded possession but worked hard to ensure Danny Taberner goal was rarely threatened. Cover almost lobbed Ince before Wes Bancroft's sweetly struck shot cannoned of a defender for a corner. The ball had broken to kindly him after Nathan Battersby looked to have been impeded in the box. Battersby wrapped things up on the stroke of injury time with an exquisite curling finish when given space about 20 yards out. A very good performance against the cup holders especially having to play a man down for almost all of the game A final against either Atherton LR and Turton is the reward for the team playing in amazingly their 14th game of the never ending month of April.
