We are proud to confirm that an initial three of the Colls Development Squad have signed first team forms, ahead of this weekend’s Northern Premier League season opener against Runcorn Linnets.
Riley Filipek, who has regularly featured for the first team throughout pre-season, signs on the back of a successful season with last season’s Under 18s, where he contributed 8 goal involvements from 23 appearances. Riley offers versatility of skill and pace from the wide positions or the ability to control play from the centre of midfield, and has also represented Bolton and Irlam at youth levels.
Abdul Baasit Ayede made his first team debut in the recent friendly against Chorley, and has operated as an attacking midfielder for the development squad throughout pre-season, comfortable on either side or in a central position. Abdul joined the Collieries from Bolton Wanderers Development this summer.
Central midfielder Patrick Sankara is also a summer signing for the development squad, having represented Darwen at Under 23 level last season.
All three players will be signed on for the first team alongside representing the Development Squad in the North West Development League on Sundays.
