From April 2016 onwards, Atherton has been served by the brand new multi-million pound Guided Busway project.

Simply catch the V2 bus, which says Atherton on the front from the city centre. It announces the names of the stops (a bit like down in that London) meaning you will find it very hard to miss your stop. A day ticket will cost you £4.20 (First Greater Manchester Day Ticket). It only stops at limited places, meaning the journey – once you escape Manchester – is pretty plain sailing.

If you are travelling from Bolton, catch the 582 from Moor Lane Bus Station. This journey takes around 20 minutes to reach Atherton and the nearest bus stop to the ground is outside ASDA on Bolton Road.
