With 4 days until the start of the season, manager Micheal Clegg has moved to bring goalkeeper Theo Roberts in on loan from Chester FC.
Theo spent last season on loan at Buxton FC as they finished in 5th place in the Northern Premier League Premier Division to qualify for the play-offs, losing to South Shields in a tie at Mariners Park.
Starting his career locally with Wigan Athletic, he made his debut in the EFL Trophy against Accrington Stanley at the DW Stadium in 2017 before joining AFC Fylde on work experience, having actually joined Colls, again on loan, for a brief period in December 2017.
Speaking earlier today, Micheal Clegg said:
“He was so important for Buxton last year in this league and made a real name for himself. With losing Greg, I knew we had to get someone special in to replace him, we have done that with Theo. Him and brad lynch are two fantastic young players who we really look forward to working with, so far it’s been a great week for us. Hopefully we can sign one more before the week is done.”
“Chris at the GK Network was excellent in supporting us find a keeper once we knew Greg was leaving. They have built an unbelievable goalkeeping community up there and he was great throughout.”
