Another massive boost for the club as we announce that Micheal Clegg has agreed a contract with last season’s top scorer Tom Bentham.
Tom made his name at Hyde United in the Conference North and joined the Colls after a spell in Australia, described at the time by the manager as “a massive signing for the club”.
Weighing in with 19 goals last season, including that 6 goal haul against Kendal Town, Tom quickly became an integral part of the team. Scoring vital goals that led the way to our promotion, including home and away against play-off finalists Leek Town, combined with work-rate and contribution to the team made Tom a favourite of the Colls faithful.
Although busy at the moment, as his family’s Coniston Butchers have moved to a new location in Roe Green, Tom took time to speak to us about his affinity with the Colls:
“I’ve felt something special at this club, when you get something so good and you realise what you’ve got playing with these players, playing for a manager and coaching staff that understand how you play, it makes you feel wanted. It’s hard not to give 110% for the club and this shirt.”
