Transfer: Danny Lambert joins Colls

Atherton Collieries are pleased to announce that defender Danny Lambert has joined the club after training with the squad during pre-season. The former Ashton United, Radcliffe Borough and Trafford player is likely to feature in this Saturday's pre-season friendly at West Didsbury & Chorlton. Manager Michael Clegg said, "Since Danny started training with us this summer we have been really impressed by him. He has shown that is versatile, aggressive and very fit." "He is an honest lad who has fitted seemingly into our group which is always key when bringing in new players." "His ability to play at full back, in the middle or out on the wings has given us even more options ahead of the new season." "Gaz Peet and Jake Kenny have been exceptional for us and we were lucky in the fact they were rarely injured or suspended. It's ideal that we now have extra options in those positions."

"I really hope that Danny has a successful season with us and we're very pleased to have him on board." Meanwhile, Danny also commented on how welcome he has been made to feel since he started training with Colls a few weeks ago. He explained, "After having a year out last season I've really enjoyed my first few weeks back. The lads and all of the coaching staff have been so welcoming and it's easy to see why this club has been so successful over the last few years." "After watching a few matches at the end of last season I've really seen what the club and the fans are about and it was an easy decision when Cleggy asked me to sign." "I'm looking forward to the games, starting with West Didsbury on Saturday and building up to that first competitive game at the start of August."
