Transfer: Matty Cross arrives at Alder House

Atherton Collieries are pleased to announce the signing of experienced midfielder Matty Cross. A familiar face in the NWCFL, Cross played a pivotal role in a strong Runcorn Linnets side over the last few seasons. Aswell as playing for Linnets, the midfielder has also had spells at Salford City, Witton Albion, Warrington Town and Trafford amongst others. He started the last campaign at Linnets before rejoining Evo-Stik Division One North side Mossley. Speaking on bringing Matty Cross to Atherton Collieries, manager Michael Clegg said, "It is a fantastic signing for us. He will bring a lot of experience to what is still a young squad." "He played against us in a friendly for Mossley last season and his hunger and his dedication to playing was evident to see." "He will be a massive asset for us in the changing room and on the pitch. With the young lads we have in the side, both Matty and Healdy - who has now joined the coaching staff - will play a key role in the development of this squad." "We realise this year it will be difficult to replicate our success of last campaign. However, I hope that by bringing in players like Matty - who have experience and a good attitude - we will certainly be able to give it a go."
