Atherton Collieries can today confirm the departure of midfielder Vinny Bailey, following 144 appearances over the course of five and a half years in the Black and White. Initially making his mark as a key part of our 2016-17 North West Counties Premier Division winning team, Vinny went on to become a fundamental part of the Colls side over recent seasons, following up on his strong start with the 2018-19 Northern Premier League First Division title, producing moments such as that goal at Chasetown which will live long in the memory.
Arguably his most historic contribution came in our FA Trophy contest against Barrow, when Vinny scored to give the Collieries the most unlikely of leads in the tie which would ultimately lead to a replay against Ian Evatt's men.
Vinny has been a significant and popular member of the Black & Whites for the last few years, and departs as an icon of the Skuna Stadium, with all of the best wishes and support from everybody at the club.
