Welcome: David Chadwick

Atherton Collieries can today confirm the appointment of David Chadwick as new first-team manager. Chadwick made his name as a player as the first permanent captain of FC United of Manchester, donning the armband for the Red Rebels a record 168 times over a total of 211 appearances for the club, having previously represented Prescot Cables, Leigh RMI, Daisy Hill and Salford City as a player. Though a combative and no-nonsense defender, Chadwick boasted an exemplary disciplinary record of never being sent off for the Rebels, and was selected in 20th in the Northern Premier League's all-time top 100 players in 2018. Following ten seasons of service on the pitch for the Moston club, Chadwick first moved into management with Chorley under-21s before returning to Broadhurst Park in a coaching capacity. In 2018, Chadwick was appointed for six matches as FC United interim manager before taking on the assistant's mantle, departing in the summer of 2022. Chadwick spent the final weeks of the 2022/23 season as manager at Ramsbottom United, overseeing an upturn in performances and results. David Chadwick offers a hard-working & no-nonsense approach to the game alongside a wealth of knowledge throughout the local non-league pyramid. Everybody at the Skuna Stadium is delighted to welcome David to the club. A full interview with David will soon be posted on the official Colls YouTube channel. Further updates with regards to playing & coaching staff will follow in due course, alongside details of a 'Meet the Manager' Q&A at the Skuna Stadium in June.
